- Liturgical & Spiritual development:
there was a very significant, even overwhelming show of concern for on -
going efforts to enhance our liturgical and spiritual development.
References were made regarding the need to help people develop deeper
prayer lives, enhance liturgy; sometimes contradictory e.g. hold hands,
don't touch each other ever, or sing more old songs versus make the
music lively; sometimes with concern for groups that are under
represented, e.g. young adults; often asking for information, programs
and sermons on special topics, etc. All in all, there is a yearning for
a shared understanding and commitment to building a faith community
grounded in deep Christian spirituality.
- Parish Physical Plant:
There was a close significance placed on the physical plant. May were
concerned with our parking lots, heating and other specific items, like
constructing a gym. some were concerned about the lack of funds for on -
going repairs for the physical plant.
- Concern for Youth and other age groups:
There was a large number of people who raised questions about out -
reach to youth and a large number who pointed to the need to have
specific programmatic efforts on behalf of young adults, seniors, and
those absent from our pews.
- Community:
There were many remarks that point to the need for consistent community
building efforts. Requests for a priest to be at the elevator doors each
week, for the priests to learn the names of the parishioners and / or to
visit homes, for people to be more friendly, for Sunday coffee shops and
fellowship, for more parish dances and parties and more are all
suggestive for this desire.
- Social Concerns and Charity:
The next largest concern, but with comparatively few numbers compared to
items 1 through 4 addressed our parish responsibility for the needs of
others. People called for improved racial tolerance, for outreach to the
poor, for more collections for special needs and the like.
