We Care Committee:
Mission Statement - to acknowledge and comfort the ailing
and home bound members of the parish by conveying God's loving concern to
them through our prayers, communication, and performance of corporal works
of mercy.
The We Care Committee reaches out to help homebound parishioners.
Volunteers visit or shop for the homebound, send greeting cards, and "We
Care" notes to parishioners recently discharged from hospitals. Volunteers
also visit parishioners in senior residences or nursing homes and
occasionally drive parishioners for doctors visits or other necessary
appointments.
Meetings: Quarterly - September, December, March and June

"Helping Hands"
Home Base: Sacred Heart Church
Operates a food pantry for needy families on Saturday mornings at Sacred
Heart Church in Rochelle park.
On the last weekend of every month nonperishable food items are collected
at OLV to be distributed by the Helping Hands Ministry. Collection boxes
are placed near the rear of the church. Volunteers are needed to collect
and sort the food contributions prior to each Mass and to deliver the food
to Sacred Heart Church.
Volunteers welcome throughout the year.

Harvest for the Hungry Food Drive
During the summer months, the demand for food increases, far outweighing
the resources of Catholic Community Services. During the months of July
and August, OLV collects food on a weekly basis to be distributed
throughout the Archdiocese. Catholic Community Services, with the help of
this ministry, fed over 65, 000 needy people in 2000.

Fellowship House:
An emergency shelter for families in need.
Two weeks out of the year (May & October) Our Lady of the Visitation
Parish supports the Fellowship House Emergency Shelter in Englewood
through our participation in the Inter - Religious Fellowship for the
Homeless of Bergen County. For one week in May and October, parish
volunteers cook and / or stay at the shelter.

The Giving Tree:
During the Advent season, parishioners provide gifts to children and other
needy children individuals. A Giving Tree, containing name tags, is placed
in the rear of the church with parishioners selecting a tag and providing
a gift for that individual. Volunteers are needed to accept, sort and
deliver the gifts.
