MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Sr. Philomena McCartney, OP

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!!   Not just the Graduates of our Pre-K, K and eighth grade but to all our students, our faculty and staff and you, the parents and guardians.  As Father Sheehan and Father Hanbury both stated at the eighth grade Mass and Graduation night, Visitation Academy is more than just an educational institution.   It is a Catholic school that teaches that GOD is the primary focus of our lives.  That only with and through God will we be able to make a positive difference in our lifetimes. We, the administration, try to do more than meet the expectations of Catholic Education by instilling in our faculty and staff the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Social Teachings, listed in several of the past newsletters.   This is not an easy task in this age, nor is it easy to parent today.  However, since parents and the school work together, keeping an open line of communication, and trusting each other that we work for the good of the school community, we have succeeded.

Let us keep each other in prayer as we begin the summer of 2008!  Be safe, be well and be blessed in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

The question may arise for some is:

Why a Catholic school?

What is the difference?

The crucial difference is in terms of God as the center of the child’s life. The integration of God and the things of God throughout the child’s day influence not only the student but the family as well. It is about Faith formation. This Faith formation has two dimensions: the dimension of a relationship with God and the second dimension is of a relationship with God through other people. It is true that many parents recognize the excellence of the academic program in a Catholic school from prior experience. Some parents would admit that they send their child to a Catholic School to be safe, secure, and cared for, they soon discover that these are the fruits of Faith formation.
